THE LIGHTOUSE BOYS WIN “BEST BAND” AWARD
(Upland, CA) – The Lighthouse Boys made an appearance at the 20th Annual Western States Quartet Convention in Upland, CA, The Lighthouse Boys were given the “Californians Choice Award for Best Gospel Band” for 1980. With the release of their first album earlier this year, The Lighthouse Boys enjoyed a pretty busy concert schedule up and down the west coast; including appearances at the Western Desert Gospel Sing at the San Bernardino Fair Grounds in Victorville, CA, Calico Ghost Town, Calico Silver Bowl and The Kern County Fair to name a few. Band member changes had once again taken place for the group, however the original three of the group; Mark Underwood, Steve Johnson and Bill Underwood, along with members Tim Cantu and Daythen Fernandez were there to perform during the Convention, and to receive the award.
The Western States Quartet Convention also featured performances from The Californians, June Wade and the Country Congregation, “Group of the Year” winner The Reflections along with several other artists..
