THE LIGHTHOUSE SINGERS BOOKED AT BUCK OWENS RECORDING STUDIO
The Lighthouse Singers as they were known local, started recording sessions at Buck Owens Recording Studios on June 30, 1978. Jim Shaw was on hand to produce the album. The Buckaroos were hired for just the first five songs. Mark Underwood and Steve Johnson wrote all five of those songs, they also wrote four of the five additional songs that would go on the album with their own band. The final recorded song “The Happiest Feelin’ was penned by local country and gospel singer Ben Hynds. The process of the album would take two years until it’s release in June of 1980.
Jim Shaw stated in an interview January 31, 2004 with the Bakersfield Californian regarding The Lighthouse Boys 30th Anniversary, “They were fun sessions, I just remember they had a nice, gospel-flavored country sound and that we enjoyed working with The Lighthouse Boys.”
