GOSPEL CONCERT SATURDAY

(BARSTOW, CA) – The Lighthouse Boys and the Gospel Carriers will be appearing in concert Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Pentecostal Church of God, corner of Windy Pass and Barstow Road.

The Lighthouse Boys are from Bakersfield. Their group is made up of five vocal singers and a six-piece back-up band. The songs sung by The Lighthouse Boys are mostly originals written by the group members.

The music is mainly contemporary southern gospel, with several other styles , as well as many traditional favorites that appeal to audiences of every type.

The Gospel Carriers are based in El Cajon, CA. The musical style focuses upon by the gospel carriers is that of an upbeat country gospel tempo. They sing many well known favorites from the past, as well as the present. Their group is made up of four vocal singers and a five-piece back-up band which features and electric fiddle.

This concert Saturday is being held to kick-off the concert being held the following afternoon, Sunday at 3 p.m. in the Silver Bowl. It will feature the Lighthouse Boys and the Regents from Southgate.

The Regents sing a wide variety of gospel music, however, most of their attention is given to Southern style traditional quartet sound. Their group is made up of four vocal singers and a four-piece back-up band.

The Pentecostal Church of God and the above mentioned groups would like to take this opportunity to invite everyone to attend these concerts, regardless of religious affiliations. Bring friends and enjoy a variety of California’s finest gospel music.

FAIR-GOERS CAN TUNE IN TO GOSPEL MUSIC

(Bakersfield, CA) The Gospel Show, will feature such headline entertainers as June Wade and the Country CongregationThe Crownsmen,  The Albert S. Goodson Singers, master of ceremonies Dick Hilleary and a Bakersfield group, The Lighthouse Boys.

     Miss June Wade is proclaimed by many as one of the greatest female vocalists of our time, being compared with Patsy Cline and Kay Starr.  She spent several years as a country and contemporary club entertainer appearing with such stars as Buck Owens, Freddie Hart, Tex Williams, Billy Mize and Roy Rogers.

The Crownsmen

     Dale Wade, June’s husband and manager of the Country Congregation, brings quick wit and humor to the program.  The Wades are joined in the group by their daughter, Dawn, and her husband, Larry Brown.  Both sing and Brown plays guitar and does impersonations.  To add more excitement to the program is noted drummer, Kevin Ownby.  Rounding out the total sound and playing country steel guitar is Matt Starner.

    Also part of the gospel show will be the Crownsmen Quartet.  The gospel group appeals to all ages, singing a variety of styles, predominately Southern Gospel.  The Crownsmen is comprised of four singers and a four-piece back-up band.

   Joining the fun that night, also will be the noted black gospel group, the Albert S. Goodson Singers.  A four-member gospel group, they perform many songs written, arranged and published by the Rev. Albert S. Goodson.

   A local gospel group, The Lighthouse Boys also will perform.  This group performs contemporary gospel. 

   Master of ceremonies for the evening will be Dick Hilleary.  He is considered to be the country’s most exciting and influential Christian master of ceremonies.  Noted for his wry humor, Hilleary helps the audience take an active part in the program.

GOSPEL SINGERS TO PERFORM

(BARSTOW, CA) – The Lighthouse Boys will be appearing live and in concert on Sunday at 6 p.m. at the Hi Desert Christian Center, 30918 Soapmine Road.

The group is based in Bakersfield and has sung throughout California at churches, concerts and many other Christ-centered events. This outstanding Gospel singing group is made up of five vocal singers and a six-piece back-up band. Their songs are a variety of styles, with the main emphasis on the contemporary southern gospel style. Most of the songs sung by the group are originals, written by the band members.

Each Lighthouse Boy is dedicated to spreading the Gospel through song and testimony of how God has moved in and changed their lives. Everyone, regardless of religious affiliation, is invited to come and listen to The Lighthouse Boys.

LOCAL COMMUNITY CHURCHES HOST LIVE CONCERT SUNDAY

(BARSTOW, CA) – The Lighthouse Boys will be appearing live and in concert on Sunday (July 27) at 11 a.m. at Yermo Community Congregational Church, 35990 School Road. They will also appear at the Pentecostal Church of God, 3466 Barstow Road, Sunday at 6 p.m.

This outstanding gospel singing group is comprised of five vocal singers and a six-piece back-up band. Their singing is a variety of styles, predominatly contemporary southern gospel. Most of the songs sung by the group are originals, written by the band members. They also play many well-known and loved favorites.

Each Lighthouse Boy is dedicated to spreading the gospel through song. They represent a variety of musical backgrounds ranging from members who have been brought up with gospel music to others who have played in rock groups and since then dedicated their talents to the Lord. The group is based in Bakersfield and has sung primarily on the west coast. The Lighthouse Boys are a group that appeals to all ages. Everyone, regardless of religious affiliation, is invited to come and listen to The Lighthouse Boys minister in song and testimony.

CALVARY CHRISTIAN PRESENT THE TALENTED LIGHTHOUSE BOYS

(BARSTOW, CA) -The Calvary Christian Center will present their monthly music celebration featuring The Lighthouse Boys at 3 p.m. on Sunday.

The Bakersfield group includes a five-piece back-up band and five vocalist wo use their talent to praise the Lord with contemporary and Southern gospel music. These young men are dedicated to serving God by helping bring people to the knowledge of the saving power of Jesus Christ.

Also appearing will be Michael and Tamare Conlan. This young couple will be opening a center for youth and servicemen in Barstow called “The Vineyard.” It is located at 125 E Main St. and will be open Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Soloist Donna Long from Long Beach will also join with the local talent from the Calvary Christian Center. Reverend Gary Nash and congregation would like to invite the public to attend and share in this afternoon of music and fellowship.

PENTECOSTS OFFER CONCERT BY BAKERSFIELD GROUP

(BARSTOW, CA) – The Lighthouse Boys will be appearing in concert Saturday at the Pentecostal Church of God, 34664 Barstow Road.

The Lighthouse Boys are based in Bakersfield, having formed the group six years ago. The group includes a five-piece back-up band and four vocalists, who use their talents to praise the Lord with contemporary and Southern gospel music.

These young men are dedicated to serving God by helping to bring people to the knowledge of the saving power of the Lord Jesus Christ.

The congregation and pastor, the Reverend Harry Price, invite the public to attend, and share this evening of music and fellowship.

CONCERT IN SUPPORT OF WEST COAST GOSPEL NEWS

(Victorville, CA) – A number of gospel music groups will join together next Friday at the First Assembly of God Church to lend support to the “West Coast Gospel News,” a new publication.

Among the groups will be Apple Valley’s June Wade and the Country Congregation with Gary Felton. They will be joined by two Bakersfield groups, The Edwards and The Lighthouse Boys.

The church is located at the corner of Lorene and La Paz. The concert starts at 7 p.m.

THE LIGHTHOUSE SINGERS & THE EDWARDS APPEAR IN TULARE, CA

(Tulare, CA) The Lighthouse Singers and The Edwards will appear at First Assembly of God in Tulare, CA November 10, 1979. The Lighthouse Singers had reformed earlier in the year with original three members Mark Underwood, Steve Johnson and Bill Underwood and new band members Tim Cantu (Drums) and Daythen Fernandez (Lead Guitar). Ken Edwards subs in on Bass Guitar when schedules permit.
